WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (WFLA.com) - A massive wasp nest outside a Winter Haven home is being removed Friday morning.

Countless yellow jackets have made the recliner chair their home at 19th Avenue South Northeast.

Florida Pest Control is at the home removing the wasp nest Friday morning. Crews say the nest spreads to under the home.

"It's not just that they're a nuisance but they are very dangerous. I would hate to see a child throw a football and land here to catch it because that could be life threatening," said Florida Pest Control's Westley Bass.

In fact, it was life threatening for a cat who jumped up on the recliner was attacked and killed by the yellow jackets, according to Tony Smarte, whose mother lives in the house.
