Early and absentee ballots in Florida show nearly 600,000 votes have already been cast for tomorrow's primary, well ahead of the 2008 pace. The Florida Republican Party says 308,416 absentee ballots have been returned and 283,250 early votes have been cast. That's about 100,000 more votes than were cast before the 2008 primary day.
The Tampa Bay Times predicts primary turnout tomorrow could be closer to 1.6 million, with early and absentee ballots accounting for 40% of the total.
A new poll taken among likely Florida Republican voters shows former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney heading into Tuesday's presidential preference primary in the Sunshine State with a 14-point lead over former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.
