US Government extends tax filing and payment deadline

The U.S. extended the April 15 tax-filing deadline to July 15, an unprecedented delay that will give people more time to prepare and pay their taxes as workers lose jobs and businesses close during the coronavirus pandemic.

The ruling applies to individuals, and includes 2019 filings, as well as first quarter 2020 filings. You will not need to file for an extension; it will be granted automatically and without penalty.
