According to a tweet by sports agent Mike McCartney, unrestricted free agent quarterback Mike Kafka has signed a contract with the Buccaneers.

Kafka was dratfed by the Philadelphia Eagles in the fourth round of the 2010 NFL draft after playing his college ball at Northwestern.  Kafka hasn’t played since 2012, after being cut by the Jaguars in preseason this year and failing to latch on anywhere else.  Kafka played in four games with the Eagles in 2011.

Below is the official release from Tampa Bay Buccaneers Communications:

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers today announced the signing of quarterback Mike Kafka.

Kafka (6-3, 225) originally entered the league as a fourth-round pick (122nd overall) of Philadelphia in 2010. Kafka, who played collegiately at Northwestern, spent two seasons with the Eagles (2010-11). He spent the 2012 preseason with Philadelphia and the 2013 preseason with Jacksonville.

The team also announced the waiving of guard/tackle Gabe Carimi, running back Michael Hill and quarterback Jordan Rodgers, along with the release of defensive tackle Derek Landri.
