Selected by the Bucs in the fourth round of the 1981 draft, John Holt was a five-year starting cornerback and played with such legends as Lee Roy Selmon and Doug Williams. 

The News and Eagle of Enid, OK, where Holt starred as a high school football player, reported Holt died Februry 13 in Tampa after an illness.

Holt is survived by his wife of 30 years, Janet Neiden Holt, of Tampa, as well as his mother, two brothers and four sisters. 

A memorial is scheduled at 11 a.m. Saturday at Florida Mortuary, 4601 N. Nebraska Ave. Donations in Holt's memory may be made to LifePath Hospice.
