Every now and again, I think it’s good to be reminded that for all the selfishness and narcissism in the world, there are still people who do great things for others.
This is the story of a boy named Jacob in Oklahoma City.
Jacob has Primary Immune Deficiency. He was born with it. Every week, he gets blood plasma infusions that build his immune system so that he can fight off illnesses. He will have to get weekly infusions FOR LIFE! During the infusions, he has four needles in him for 2 to 3 hours. The side effects are horrible-flu like-and he has difficulty during normal everyday activities.

With all this being said, he is a trooper and a happy kid that never complains.
Jacob is a HUGE George Strait fan and has been since birth (12 years!). He listens to George’s CDs during infusions and on those days when he can’t get out of bed.
It was Jacob’s dream to see Strait in concert. Well, stop #2 on The King’s “Cowboy Rides Away” farewell tour was Oklahoma City. Unfortunately, Jacob’s parents could not afford tickets to the show due to the incredible out-of-pocket costs of Jacob’s illness.
Upon hearing Jacob’s story, a representative from George’s record label was able to swoop in, save the day, and make a boy’s dream come true.
This may just be one person of MANY who has a similar story, but like the parable of the starfish…you may not be able to help all, but that doesn’t diminish the helping of the ones you do.
And, the look seen here on Jacob’s face as he picked up his tickets from will-call was ...of course priceless. Help someone soon! IT what its all about.
