Disco Queen" DONNA SUMMER passed away yesterday.  She was 63. She reportedly passed away in Englewood, Florida. That's south of Venice in Sarasota County.

 There's no official cause of death, but multiple reports say she was suffering from cancer.  TMZ claims she had lung cancer . . . and "sources" told them Donna thought she got it by "inhaling toxic particles after the 9/11 attack in New York City."

Donna was once a backup singer for THREE DOG NIGHT, before releasing her first big hit, the racy "Love to Love You Baby", in 1975.  Her other hits included:  "I Feel Love", "MacArthur Park", "She Works Hard for the Money", "Hot Stuff", "Bad Girls""No More Tears" with BARBRA STREISAND, and "Last Dance" from the "Thank God It's Friday" soundtrack.

Donna won five Grammys, six American Music Awards and was the first African American woman to be nominated for an MTV Video Music Award, for "She Works Hard for the Money".

--She was nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this spring, but she didn't make the cut this time

She released her final album, "Crayons", in 2008.  It was her first one in 17 years

Lady Gaga will be on this Sunday's season finale of "The Simpsons," Here is an interview she and Matt Groening did interview

Groening said he couldn't believe they got her on the show.  (--He said Lady Gaga was great when they were recording her lines, and they actually ruined a few takes because they were laughing so hard.  He also said she'll look as "beautiful" as they can make her for the show, and her hair might be slightly larger than Marge's.)

 

"Oprah's Next Chapter" . . . 9:00 to 10:00 P.M. on OWN.  Carrie Underwood and her hockey player husband Mike Fisher do their first interview together for Oprah.

 

 

MOVIES THIS WEEKEND:  

Battleship" opens this weekend, and it stars Rihanna, Taylor Kitsch, Liam Neeson, Alexander Skarsgard from "True Blood" and Brooklyn Decker.  It's based on the classic "Battleship" board game, but the plot is about an international naval fleet who have to guard Earth against an army of invading aliens.  (--Here's a scene where the crew checks out a captured alien they think is dead . . . but it's actually alive.)

What to Expect When You're Expecting" also opens this weekend, and it has a massive cast.  It's based on the book of the same name, and it's about five couples going through the experience of having a baby.  (--Here's a scene where two of the couples tell everyone they're pregnant.)  (--The pregnant ladies are Jennifer Lopez, Cameron Diaz, Brooklyn Decker, Elizabeth Banks, and Anna Kendrick.  Chris Rock is also in it as one of the experienced fathers in a "dudes group" that meets at the park and takes clueless new dads under their collective wing.  The rest of the men include Dennis Quaid and "Glee's" Matthew Morrison
